A first-generation Senegalese American, M'benda N'dour was raised in Los Angeles, California. Although currently a Lead Software Engineer, she didn’t know this field existed in school or if it would be a right fit for her; she was always the only woman in the room, and had to advocate for herself to make her voice heard. Graduating in 2019 with degrees that include Computer Science, Math, and Africana Studies, she has a passion to make Tech accessible to everyone by giving back the knowledge she wished she had when she was in school.

"Being a woman in STEM, there are... frustrations. Sexism and a lack of representation are only a few things that you deal with on a daily basis. When none of your peers look like you, it's easy to feel like you don't belong. I want to show young girls that there is space for them in STEM, specifically as a Software Engineer. I want to show them that they can do it too, and that they can be a smart, powerful, and beautiful leader." - M'benda

As an advocate for Education, I see how a lack of access to STEM could leave behind an entire generation of women and children. My passion is providing equal education access to Tech by teaching women and children how to code, and have worked with numerous institutions to bring free coding programs to students. I also have a Youtube channel that has nearly 2 million views, where I give free resources and information I wish I knew in school.

Pageantry is important to me because I believe women are multifaceted; from pursuing higher education to wearing a beautiful gown, as long as girls are given the opportunity they can achieve anything!

I believe I have the qualities of your next MS UNITED STATES, and with your help we can change the future of the next generation! Let’s bring the title back to California!
